First Look at RB17: Red Bull’s 1,200hp Hypercar

Introducing the RB17, a track-only hypercar designed by Formula 1 legend Adrian Newey and built by the Advanced Technologies division of the Red Bull Formula 1 team. Limited to just 50 units, Red Bull Advanced Technologies will manufacture the RB17 in the same meticulous manner as their Formula 1 cars.

The RB17 features a naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of 15,000 RPM and producing 1,000 horsepower. Developed in collaboration with Cosworth, the engine emphasizes weight reduction, coming in at 150 kg—50 kg lighter than the Valkyrie engine. In addition to the combustion engine, the RB17 incorporates an electric motor, which assists with smooth pullaways, boosts power by an extra 200 horsepower, and improves overall efficiency.

The RB17’s aerodynamic design draws heavily from Formula 1 principles. The front wing, free of regulations, complements a full-length diffuser, creating a stable and central downforce. The car employs fans to augment downforce at low speeds, offering exceptional performance across various conditions.
