First Drive in the McLaren Solus GT

The McLaren Solus GT is a limited-production track-focused hypercar that takes inspiration from a futuristic concept featured in the Gran Turismo SPORT video game. This single-seat, closed-cockpit car is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that delivers a staggering 829hp at 10,000rpm, with the capability to boost to 858hp as speeds increase due to the ram air effect at high speeds!

Tipping the scales at a dry weight of 935kg, the Solus GT generates a staggering 1,200kg of downforce at 150mph. Needless to say, this is a car that demands respect and serious practice to master, a fact that was highlighted by Jethro Bovingdon from Top Gear magazine in the video below as he took it for a drive around Circuit of the Americas (COTA).
