2007 FIAGT @ Silverstone
Described as the UK’s ‘premier sportscar race’, the FIA GT meeting at Silverstone is a huge date on the calendar.
Finishing just last Sunday, the weekend staged an opening round of the hotly contested GT3 class which welcomed many debuts like the Jaguar XKR GT3, Mustang FR500 and Ford GT. The later of these, two Maltech Ford GTs were swiss-prepared and one actually qualified second. In the end, it fell back to 16th, leaving victory to Moser/Vannelet who piloted their Ferrari F430 just half a second faster than the trailing Lamborghini!
Top honors went to the Maserati MC12 which won the GT1/GT2 race. The newly formed GT4 class was an almost showroom stock affair and will no doubt grow in size due to its lower costs.
As a pleasant surprise, Silverstone dedicated some track time for a historic class full of 90s supercars. Among them were two Stealth B6s, a Lotus Elise GT1 and a few others we have never seen.
The three days of racing can be seen in our latest gallery which was shot by Ilya Holt who thoroughly enjoyed capturing everything for us all.
