Coming on September 6
Top Gear is back again for another season. Last year, I had the pleasure of talking with Chris Harris about the season and his co-hosts. This year, the same team is back, and they’re having even more good-natured fun. The special has already aired, but the first official episode premieres on September 6 at 8 pm ET.
The folks at BBC America wanted to get the word out about the upcoming episode, which looks like it’s a lot of fun. The guys attempt to have a summer holiday in super-cheap second-hand convertibles. BBC America offered to share an exclusive clip with us so we could present it to our readers ahead of the episode airing. That clip is included below.
In it, you’ll see the guys up to their usual outrageous motoring challenges. They’re at a golf driving range, and hitting balls at Chris Harris who is driving a Mercedes-Benz SLK. While he’s driving he has a Tyrannosaurus Rex costume on. How he can see to drive around is beyond me. Add to that the fact that he’s getting pelted with golf balls the entire time, and it’s actually impressive he wasn’t hurt.
A lot of the stunts in this season of Top Gear look pretty extreme. It’s great fun, and I’d suggest checking it out. While the show has evolved from a simple car show to more of a complete entertainment machine for the BBC, you’ll also, of course, find the best supercars and sports cars and other vehicles in this year’s season. In the upcoming episode, Harris drives the new Ariel Atom and Freddie Flintoff bungee jumps a Rover off a dam.
Check out the clip below, and then the entire episode on BBC America when it premiers.
