The 390Z Maybe?
We recently reported that a Nissan executive said that there would be a Z-car replacement to the 370Z. It’s unclear what that vehicle will be, but the folks over at EVO seem to have snagged some spy shots of a testing mule from the company. It looks like a replacement to the 370Z, and we’re wondering if the company will call it the 390Z.
The test mule was spotted at the Nurburgring. Oddly enough, it didn’t sport a wrap or any camo covering. It just looks more or less unfinished. The car doesn’t feature badges, but it has the word “Nissan” painted on the door. The car looks like it’s a pretty standard 370Z, honestly.
What could have changed is the engine and all of the internals. At the very least, this is a special edition of the 370Z. There were concerns about the engine in the current 370Z making the ever-tightening European emissions standards. This could be a 370Z with an all-new engine, which could change a lot of things for the car. The company may have also updated the suspension and some of the other internal parts and components. If this is the case, we’re looking at what’s essentially a new sports car.
It’ll be interesting to see what comes of this in the coming months. We’d expect if Nissan is running this car at the Nurburgring, then an announcement can’t be all that far off.
