Zündapp
Zündapp, a German manufacturer with a rich history in motorcycle production, ventured into the automobile market with the Zündapp Janus 250. Launched in the late 1950s, the Janus 250 was a unique microcar known for its unconventional design and practicality. Named after the Roman god Janus, the car featured forward-facing and rear-facing seats, allowing for easy ingress and egress through its front and rear doors. Despite its small size, the Janus 250 offered surprising interior space and versatility, making it ideal for urban commuting and short trips. Powered by a modest yet reliable two-stroke engine, the Janus 250 provided economical transportation for post-war Europe. Although Zündapp’s foray into automobile manufacturing was short-lived, the Janus 250 remains a cherished collector’s item, admired for its distinctive design and contribution to automotive history.
