Mooncraft
Mooncraft, a Japanese race car manufacturer and design studio, is renowned for its innovative contributions to motorsport and its unique approach to automotive design. Founded in 1975 by Takuya Yura, a former racing driver and aerodynamics expert, Mooncraft quickly made a name for itself in the world of racing. The company’s focus on aerodynamics and advanced engineering has resulted in a series of competitive race cars that have left a lasting impact on various racing disciplines. One of Mooncraft’s most notable achievements came with its involvement in the Japanese Super GT series. The Mooncraft Shiden, introduced in the mid-2000s, was a standout model in the Super GT GT300 class. The Shiden’s design emphasized aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight construction, allowing it to compete effectively against more powerful rivals. The car’s distinctive appearance, featuring a low-slung, wedge-shaped body and aggressive styling, made it a favorite among fans and a symbol of Mooncraft’s design prowess. In addition to its success in Super GT, Mooncraft has also made significant contributions to other forms of motorsport, including Formula Nippon (now Super Formula) and endurance racing.
