Car Of The Day: 2005 Gemballa Mirage GT

Gemballa has gained a reputation for its extravagant and expensive upgrade kits for various supercars, and one of its most famous creations is the Mirage GT based on the Porsche Carrera GT. This exclusive vehicle, produced by the esteemed German manufacturer and tuning company, underwent a series of bespoke modifications to enhance its performance, aesthetics, aerodynamics, and weight-saving capabilities.

The Mirage GT boasts an extensive use of carbon-fiber in both the bodywork and chassis. Its design includes a reimagined front bumper with three large air intakes, a vented bonnet, recessed door elements, a roof-mounted air intake, and a carbon-fiber targa roof panel. The rear features a redesigned fascia and side skirts, along with a larger rear wing that incorporates an electrically operated center flap. The car’s performance has also been upgraded with a Gemballa sport clutch and an uprated race-style electrically adjustable coilover suspension.

Through a customized ram air intake system, a more efficient stainless-steel exhaust with sport metal catalytic converters, and a remapped ECU, Gemballa managed to squeezed out an additional 58 bhp from the Carrera GT’s 5.7-liter V-10 engine, elevating the total output to 670 bhp and 630 Nm of torque. This results in a swift 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 335 km/h.
