Can Two Hypercars Beat A Formula 1 Car In A Drag Race?

F1 cars are quite quick. They stand  as a pinnacle of speed and precision, pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology to their limits. These extraordinary machines, born and bred for the racetrack, are a world apart from the average road-legal vehicles we encounter daily. They are so quick that it can be difficult to gauge how much quicker they are than a road-going car. Even a car from 2011, like the championship-winning Red Bull RB8, is so fast that any production car will be left in the dust.

Even the Bugatti Veyron and the Porsche 918 Spyder are no match against this modern Formula 1 car which is show in this drag race video presented to us by carwow. By no means these two high-performance cars are no slouch, especially if you take a look at their numbers.

The Bugatti Veyron is powered by an awe-inspiring 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, capable of delivering a staggering 1,001 hp and 922 lb-ft of torque. Its power is efficiently transmitted to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, ensuring lightning-fast gear changes. On the other hand, the Porsche 918 Spyder is equipped with a 4.6-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, complemented by two electric motors, resulting in an astonishing 887 horsepower and a massive 944 pound-feet of torque.

The Formula 1 car featured in this showdown is Sebastian Vettel’s championship-winning RB8 from Red Bull Racing. This machine is driven by a high-revving 2.4-liter V8 engine, producing an impressive 800 hp (588 kW). What truly distinguishes it is its featherweight construction, weighing a mere 1,543 lbs (700 kilograms). This exceptional power-to-weight ratio and rear-wheel drive configuration place the RB8 in a league of its own.
