Can A Tuned BMW M3 Have A Chance Of Beating A Ferrari SF90 In A Drag Race?

In their newest video, carwow lined up a tuned BMW M3 against a Ferrari SF90 to see which one’s faster. It’s worth noting though that these are two completely different sports cars, one is a performance luxury sedan, while the other is a mid-engined supercar.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, complemented by three electric motors and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Unveiled as a plug-in hybrid in 2019, it boasts an impressive combined power output of 986 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The engine itself generates 768 horsepower, with the additional electric motors contributing to its overall performance. Ferrari strategically placed one electric motor on the rear axle and two on the front.

With such immense power, the SF90 Stradale claims to achieve 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. It can reach 125 mph in a mere 6.7 seconds and boasts a top speed of 211 mph. In fact, it even outperformed the renowned Ferrari LaFerrari on the automaker’s Fiorano test track, completing a lap in 1 minute and 19 seconds, compared to the LaFerrari’s time of 1 minute and 19.70 seconds.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is going up against a modified BMW M3 G80, customized by British tuner Tom Wrigley Performance. This tuned M3 G80 features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine that has undergone significant modifications. Its power output has been increased from the original 510 horsepower and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) to an astonishing 750 horsepower and a massive 900 Nm (662 lb-ft) of torque.

Just by looking at the specs of the two cars, you can clearly see who’s going to be the winner. But we all know that there are other factors to consider when it comes to drag races. So, we suggest that you watch the video and have fun.
