Brawn GP and Jaguar Heritage at Silverstone Sale – Bonhams

Bonhams raised over ยฃ750,000 at their annual Silverstone Classic sale held on Saturday, July 25th, with 97% lots sold by value (95% sold by lot). Stars of the well-attended sale were collections from Brawn GP and the Jaguar Heritage Trust which attracted international interest from Europe, Japan and the USA, as well as the home market.

In pole position were lots from Brawn GPโ€™s collection, including historic race cars and scale 1:1 show cars. The collection, including automobilia, fetched ยฃ300,000 with the Ex-Jenson Button 2006 Honda RA106 Single-Seater matching the success of its former driver to take first place as the top lot in the sale, achieving ยฃ46,600 โ€“ in excess of the estimated price of ยฃ25,000-30,000.

The sale also featured an exceptional collection of over 25 vehicles from the Jaguar Heritage Trust, which fetched ยฃ261,000. Of these, highlights include the aesthetically unusual Bass Bottle โ€“ a 1921 Daimler TL30 Van โ€“ which reached ยฃ15,755 (estimated price ยฃ7,000-10,000). Other cars from the collection attracted tremendous interest with several lots reaching up to six times their pre-sale estimate. The 1931 Austin Seven Swallow Saloon sold for ยฃ21,275 (estimation ยฃ5,000-7,000), whilst the 1996 Daimler Century Saloon achieved ยฃ20,700 (estimation ยฃ4,000-6,000) and the 1993 Jaguar XJ12 Sovereign Series III Saloon raised ยฃ18,400 (estimation ยฃ3,000-5,000).

James Knight, Group Head of Bonhams Motoring Department said, โ€œBonhams is delighted to have been entrusted to handle the sale of collections from both Brawn GP and Jaguar Heritage. These organisations are similarly pleased with the 100% sale rate for their respective lots. The Silverstone Classic completes a hat trick of successful sales held by Bonhams Motoring Department across weekends in July, which have raised a total of over ยฃ5 million. We are looking forward to our September sales, with many interesting and exciting lots already consigned to the Beaulieu Auto Jumble and Goodwood Revival, as well as our inaugural sale in Reims.โ€
