[Book Review] Tony Southgate From Drawing Board to Chequered Flag

Tony Southgate From Drawing Board to Chequered Flag

Autobiography

The foundation of Tony Southgate’s career is embedded, as with many of motor racing’s successful designers, in the organization that is the 750 Motor Club. It is though membership in the club must be a pre-requisite on the CV of those who have fashioned the sport over the past 50 years. Tony must be regarded as one of the most consummate professionals of the recent past, designing cars that won many of the blue-chip races and championships including the Indianapolis 500, Le Mans and Grand Prix.

Many of those involved in our beloved sport say they are getting around to writing their book, so it’s good to see the finished item in print. Tony’s frank writing not only lets the reader into the heart of the motor racing world of the latter half of the last century, but also notes the effects and tolls that our world takes out of an individual and their family. There are many highs and many lows, including the court case between Shadow and Arrows, and much much more. A thoroughly great read.
