Ferrari – Racecars 1966-1983
Photographs by Ian Catt
Perhaps it is the intended style of this book to display its images as grainy, soft-focus examples, but if that is not the case, or there has not been a problem in printing, it is difficult to determine its rationale. It’s not as if there’s an occasionally fuzzy photo, it’s a rare moment when you can find a sharp one.
While this book does portray a nice chronology of racing Ferraris through its designated time period, and features informative accompanying text from William Taylor, there is little else to recommend it.
Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by years of perusing crystal sharp photography of beautiful racing machines, but once you know how it’s supposed to be done, it becomes difficult to accept less than the best. If you naturally buy anything with “Ferrari” on it, go ahead, otherwise, your money could probably be better spent.
