Fast Lines
By Pete Lyons
Let me preface this review—right up front—and say that it was impossible for any of us here to be objective, when it came to Pete Lyons’ new compendium of his favorite “Fast Lines” columns—we obviously loved them the first time we published them and like a fine wine they only seem to get better with age!
As one of our original founding contributors, Pete has written his monthly “Fast Lines” column in every issue since our first in 1998. This provided Pete with over 170 columns to choose from. In the end, though, Pete whittled it down to his favorite 55 columns organized by categories such as: Heroes; Cars; Events; This and That; and even Rants. With an insightful and erudite writing style, Pete examines the cars, drivers, events and questions that are meaningful and relevant to us as historic racing competitors and devotees of racing history. If you don’t own all 14 years of Vintage Racecar back issues (and we think you should!), buying a copy of Fast Lines is a great way to be able to enjoy an amazing body of work that will surely stand the test of time.
