Carroll Shelby – A Collection of my Favorite Racing Photos

By Art Evans with Carroll Shelby

In the latter years of his life, racing and automotive legend Carroll Shelby shared a close familial friendship with VR contributor Art Evans. One offshoot of the duo’s friendship was collaboration on a number of books chronicling Shelby’s life and the rich history of racing in the “Fabulous ’50s” as Evans refers to it. One of the last projects the pair worked on before Shelby passed away was this compilation of photographs form Shelby’s personal albums.

Carroll Shelby—A Collection of my Favorite Racing Photos is a photo scrapbook that examines Shelby’s racing exploits, year-by-year, from 1952-1968, with additional chapters covering his various racing and automotive projects during the 1970s, ’80s and from 1990 to his passing. Extended captions for each of the 300 photographs offer a combination of historical descriptions mixed with Shelby’s own remembrances of the scene or personality depicted.

A fascinating look at both Shelby’s life and racing in the ’50s and ’60s, this book will be a worthy addition to the library of any fan of “Ol’ Shel.”
