Automotive Art – Uli Ehret’s “BMW 320 Turbo at the Nürburgring”

BMW 320 Turbo at the Nürburgring Artwork

Uli Ehret portrays the old Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft at Germany’s most famous track.

The Oldtimer Grand Prix at Nürburgring is a great historic race event, and here, in his characteristic style, artist Ehret captures the cars of the former Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft, the German Touring Car Championship. A BMW 320 Turbo from Team Schnitzer is shown being chased by a BMW M1 and a Porsche 911 Turbo, and it cannot get more mythic than this for lovers of German engineering.  A Corvette C3, Alfa GTA, Ford Escort RS and an Opel Commodore GS chase the Bavarian and Swabian Turbos ahead of them. This could easily have been a poster for the DRM, as the use of watercolors was then common among those who painted posters for the European race organizers and car magazines. A few limited edition reproductions remain in Ehret’s Gallery, and worldwide shipping is available.
