It Could Have 620 hp
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is one of the fastest and best sports sedans—really more of a super sedan—on the market. In typical FCA style, Alfa Romeo might take the Quadrifoglio and do something awesome, throw more horsepower at it and make it lighter. According to MoparInsiders, the company is planning a Giulia GTA as a part of the brand’s 110th anniversary.
The move would put an extra 120 hp into an already bonkers compact luxury sedan. It would also chop out 44 pounds from the European-spec model. The car would be an insanely speedy machine. It’s unclear how Alfa will make this weight loss. Likely through extensive use of carbon fiber.
If the report from MoparInsiders is accurate, then the car will be a limited-production run model and sold only in Europe—a shame for any North American Alfa-lovers. It could be offered to other markets, but I think the chance of that is rather slim.
I’ve driven the current Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. I spend a blissful weekend with it one time where I managed to eliminate quite a bit of tire tread and really let the Ferrari-sourced 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine do its thing. I cannot imagine what the car would be like with 120 more horses.
