Sports Car Racing In Camera 1950-59
Paul Parker
This book complements previous titles in the “In Camera” series. It shows a time when the post-war world was looking to brighter days and a return to normality. In a very evocative book of photographs supported by well written, informative and extended captions. Each year is prefaced by a log of all the competing drivers, teams, venues and results from the major races—such as the Tourist Trophy, Le Mans, Mille Miglia, Sebring and other long-distance events. While the majority of the photographs in the early years are black and white, the sprinkling of color is more liberal toward the latter end of the decade. All the photos are of excellent quality, being taken by the experts of the day, due credit is given to them and those who now have custody of their work. The author has cleverly selected the photos and has been careful to publish many that have not been seen before. In summary, this is a great “picture book” that cannot help but stir the memories of a bygone era. If this is the first volume you purchase, you’ll just have to put the others on your list.
