1960→1961 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Drophead Coupe
In 1960 Jaguar upgraded their XK engine to have a displacement of 3781 cc. This was achieved by increasing the bore and offered 220 bhp over the standard 190 bhp 3.4.
Like the previous model, an optional Special Equipment Model was available which used the B-Type cylinder head and twin SU HD6 carburetors. Other refinements included wire wheels, dual exhaust, windscreen washers. Above and beyond the SE model was the S-Type which used a straight-port cylinder head and three HD8 SU carburetors for 265 bhp @ 5500 rpm.

1960 Jaguar XK150 3.8-Litre Drophead Coupé S838700DN – sold for €128,800 Representing the XK150 in its ultimate configuration, with the 3.8-litre engine and overdrive gearbox, this example comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate revealing that it was manufactured as a drophead coupé and delivered new to Jaguar Cars, New York, USA finished in British Racing Green. The car forms part of the Alain Dominique Perrin Collection and is Mr Perrin’s favourite car and he has owned four or five over the years. This one benefits from extensive refurbishment, the engine and gearbox having been overhauled, the overdrive replaced, the grey leather interior restored and the car repainted in blue (in 2007-2008). It has also been fitted with the agreeable but easily reversible option of power assisted steering. Currently displaying a total of 70,970 miles (approximately 114,200 kilometres) on the odometer, this well cared for XK150 is offered with a condition report (2013), French Carte Grise and Contrôle Technique (issued June 2015). 1960 Jaguar XK150 3.8 Drophead Coupe S838668DN – sold for $225,500 A proper and very high-quality restoration performed by Jaguar professionals with virtually no expense spared, this 3.8-liter XK150 DHC from 1960 is simply impressive. During this extensive restoration process, the body received a bare-metal refinish in British Racing Green with carefully fitted panels, handsomely complemented by a black convertible top, show-quality restored brightwork and handsome Suede Green leather upholstery. Mechanically, the engine, gearbox, drivetrain and all systems were gone through. In addition to its rare 3.8-liter engine and four-speed gearbox with overdrive, this original “SE” (Special Equipment) model is also equipped with dual fog lamps, five chrome wire wheels shod with period-style Dunlop Roadspeed tires, a dual-exhaust system and a fully equipped trunk compartment fitted with a jack and tools.
