Only rivaled by Retromobile, Techno Classica is one of the dominant classic car shows in Europe. Last weekend the 22nd annual running of the show brought out some excellent cars and they are now included in our feature gallery by Dirk de Jager.
One of the stars of Techno Classica was a post-war Auto Union brought out by Hall & Hall. This racecar was built in postwar Germany under Soviet control for the upcoming Forumula 2 regulations. The story is as unusual as the car itself.
Mercedes-Benz had the most spectacular display with ample room for their extensive history. Prototypes like the C111, C112 and Vision SLR were included alongside many hallmark Daimler designs. RM Auctions also provided quite a spectacle with many cars from their upcoming Monaco auction. When you see lots like the Star of India and the only 328 Mille Miglia ‘Büegelfalte’ in the same sale, you know it’s going to be good.
