Oddities from Villa d’Este

Frankly, we didn’t know the Lancia Florida existed until it was brought to our attention at the recent Villa d’Este Concours. And that’s the charm of the event. It brings out cars which surprise or at least haven’t been out in a long time. This is reason enough to have a second look at some of the entrants.

Another car from the show which is unique among its kind is the Jaguar D-Type Prototype. This car has the privilege of being completely unmolested since it was made in 1954. Being the very first D-Type, XKC401 has many unique features we just recently discovered.

A final look in to the 1940 Mille Miglia BMWs is essential. Tomorrow the Büegelfalte’ is going up for auction in Monaco with RM, but BMW has given us some images of all four variants we can’t refuse to use. Take for instance, Touring’s copy of the Büegelfalte’ simply known as the Mille Miglia Roadster or Series II. Two of these awesome streamliners were made for the event and one will be driven later this month at the Mille Miglia historic. If that wasn’t enough, BMW have also released new details regarding the Kamm Coupe they replicated for Villa d’Este. This car will also be going the distance at the MM.
