This past weekend, the inaugural Motorclassica was held at the Carlton Gardens in Melbourne. By using the Royal Exhibition Building, Motorclassica now rivals all the best indoor classic car shows. It also draws from many clubs in the area which can contribute to the best Australian exhibition under one roof.
The weekend included a classic tour, an auction by Shannon’s and the indoor Concours d’Elegance which featured around 100 cars. The organizers made room for both pre-war and postwar models with a special section for modern supercars. Best of Show went to a black Daimler Double Twelve with factory limosine bodywork that was first delivered to Australia in March of 1929.
Our friend Tristan De Carro was kind enough to share his images with us from Motorclassica. He extensively photographed the 1971 Ford Falcon XY GT HO Phase 3 for our feature gallery. This model has been called ”the greatest Australian supercar of its time.”
