Detroit Concours (2023) – Recap & Image Gallery

Hosted at the Detroit Institute of Arts September 22 to September 23

The Detroit Concours is an annual celebration that pays tribute to the heart and soul of the Motor City and its rich automotive culture. That’s why this year’s celebration shines a spotlight on the dedicated individuals who have driven Detroit’s legacy as the epicenter of automotive innovation for generations, held at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

In addition to breathtaking custom artwork installations composed of photographs submitted by automotive industry professionals, the event introduced a special Concours d’Elegance class called “Powered by Detroit,” which featured an impressive lineup of heritage vehicles from renowned manufacturers.

 

Joining this year’s festivities as Chief Judge was Ed Welburn, a distinguished 44-year veteran of General Motors’ design team.

Among the highlights were exhibitions dedicated to the Designs of Gordon Buehrig, Automotive Innovations, and Anniversary Celebrations of iconic brands like McLaren and Lamborghini.

 

The 2023 Detroit Concours featured 150 premier vehicles meticulously curated for a world-class competition, spanning across 18 distinctive car classes:

  • Horseless Carriage/Brass Era Cars – Special Display
  • Concours of America All Stars (Best in Class from 1979-2021)
  • American Sports Cars of the ’50s and ’60s
  • 120th Anniversary of Harley Davidson
This year’s Best In Show winner, a gorgeous 1939 Delahaye 135 MS Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet.

And last but certainly not least, the coveted “Best in Show” title for 2023 goes to a stunning 1939 Delahaye 135 MS Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet, marking the manufacturer’s second annual win in a row following last year’s winner, a “Grand Luxe” 135M Roadster Cabriolet, at the 2022 inaugural event.
