Jim Hurtubise behind the wheel of his own front-engine Roadster with Offenhauser power. He was classified 14th after engine failure at the three-quarters distance. “Herk” as he was affectionately known, began his career in NASCAR on the old Daytona Beach course in 1955 and drove his last race, again with NASCAR, on the Daytona Tri-Oval in 1980.
