Automotive Art – Uli Ehret’s “Toyota 87C at Le Mans 1987”

Toyota 87C Artwork

Uli Ehret portrays the Dome-built Toyota protoype that challenged the Porsches and Jaguars at Le Mans.

Uli Ehret’s latest watercolor artwork shows the Group C Toyota T87C—a racecar designed and built by Dome—roaring past the pits during the early minutes of the race. The four-cylinder, turbo-engined prototype was driven by Alan Jones, Geoff Lees and Eje Elgh, and raced against mighty opposition from Porsche (the eventual race winner) and Jaguar (including the Silk Cut car shown here). Unfortunately, the car retired after two hours when it ran out of fuel on the course. Reproductions are available from the artist in five different sizes.
