The Porsche Werks Reunion 2014 was held Friday, August 15th at the Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel Valley, California. Hosted by the Porsche Club of America, the inaugural Monterey Classic Car Week event focused solely on Porsche started off with a bang, after a separation from the Legends of the Autobahn event this year. The afternoon was a fantastic spectacle for the Porschephile, as well over 500 of Stuttgart’s finest from every generation were on display.
With the help of Porsche Cars North America, show-goers had the privilege of getting up close and personal with some of Porsche’s more recent supercars, the V10-powered Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder.
Even more special for the older audience were the cars from renowned Porsche collections, such as the Jerry Seinfeld and Ingram Family Collections. With everything from the very first 911 of Seinfeld’s collection to the 911R and other highly interesting RS models from the Ingram Family, these two collections provided a powerful statement for the debut Porsche Werks Reunion.
In addition to the 911-based variants, there was a particularly strong showing of 356s of every condition and type, a Glockler-Porsche Special and even a handsome 906 in attendance for onlookers to feast their eyes upon. The parking corral was a car show in itself, with more 356s and 911s overflowing the lawn than there was time to view. The Werks Reunion appealed to every type of Porsche enthusiast, from the ‘R-Gruppe’ and ‘Outlaw’ hot-rods to the highly accurate Concours-quality examples and even a nice sampling of historically significant racing machines from the brand’s deep motorsport heritage.
Competing on the same day during Monterey Classic Car Week with the Quail Motorsports Gathering and the Legends of the Autobahn, the Porsche Club of America did an admirable job with the Porsche Werks Reunion 2014 and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for years to come.
