Mullins Make Major Donation to the Art Center College of Design

Noted collector Peter Mullin and his wife Merle have made a major donation of $15 million to Pasadena, Californiaโ€™s Art Center College of Design. The donation will enhance and support the collegeโ€™s famed industrial and transportation design programs, which have consistently turned out a steady stream of the worldโ€™s top automotive designers.

โ€œIโ€™ve been talking about it for a year or so, but I have been following Art Center for years,โ€ said Mr. Mullin, who in addition to being founder of his eponymous Mulllin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California is also chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum. โ€œIt is to design what Caltech is to engineering.โ€

A spokesman for the Art Center stated, โ€œThe Mullinsโ€™ timely gift will create strategically important new space for the collegeโ€™s undergraduate programs in environmental, product and transportation design, enabling students and faculty to create and simulate the scale and quantity of projects that will be demanded over the coming decades.โ€
