Mullins Make Major Donation to the Art Center College of Design

Noted collector Peter Mullin and his wife Merle have made a major donation of $15 million to Pasadena, California’s Art Center College of Design. The donation will enhance and support the college’s famed industrial and transportation design programs, which have consistently turned out a steady stream of the world’s top automotive designers.

“I’ve been talking about it for a year or so, but I have been following Art Center for years,” said Mr. Mullin, who in addition to being founder of his eponymous Mulllin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California is also chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum. “It is to design what Caltech is to engineering.”

A spokesman for the Art Center stated, “The Mullins’ timely gift will create strategically important new space for the college’s undergraduate programs in environmental, product and transportation design, enabling students and faculty to create and simulate the scale and quantity of projects that will be demanded over the coming decades.”
