This site bills itself as “a celebration of motorsport,” and that just about says it all. Now in its fifth year, motorsportretro.com features articles about, interviews with and profiles of major competitors in both cars and bikes through both videos and the written word. Also featured prominently are extensive photo galleries from races, shows and sales.
Based in Australia, the site is directed by self-confessed motorhead Rich Fowler, whose personal résumé contains entries from Autosport, Motor, Auto Action and Australian Motorcycle News, and whose goal for the site is to “try to find stories, perspectives, images and insights that go beyond the simple results, trophies, crashes and controversy.”
A sampling of site content as this was written included: a video discussion with former McLaren men Tyler Alexander and Gordon Coppuck as they remember the late, lamented company founder Bruce McLaren; another video, with Dario Franchitti driving Richie Ginther’s Honda RA 272; an article discussing the lack of Italian drivers on this year’s Grand Prix grids; a profile of bike legend Wayne Rainey; and an interview with Indy 500-winning car owner Bryan Herta among many others, so give it a click and see what you might be able to find.
