The Arizona Biltmore is one of the most striking locations to hold an auction in the desert and RM continued to build on past success with sales over $25.5 million and an impressive sell-through of 89 percent. Boasting quality over quantity (Offering 42 fewer lots from last year) it seemed as if RM was out to celebrate the cavallino rampante with an impressive herd of Ferraris (ten in total) crossing the block. The Maranello offerings were led by an exceptional one-off 1957 410 Superamerica Scaglietti Coupe which realized $1,815,000 followed by a 1963 250 GT Lusso and 1973 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder at just under $1 million each. A 1959 BMW 507 went to Scott Morris at $990,000 (who finished his week at Gooding & Co. where he also bought the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT California and a stunning 1937 BMW 328). RM also saw $880,000 for an exquisitely prepared 1930 Duesenberg Model J LWB LeBaron Dual Cowl Phaeton and a 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra purchased for the same amount. Equally impressive was the $335,000 bid for a 1958 Porsche 356A 1600 Speedster that might have been the finest example in the world.
