New Track Planned for Central New York

The first phase of construction for Central New York Raceway Park in Central Square, N.Y., is set to begin this spring. The 140-acre site, located 20 minutes from downtown Syracuse, is presently being cleared in anticipation of the groundbreaking for a facility that will include a two-mile road course, a drag strip and a synthetic-surface half-mile dirt track. The facility is being constructed by Donnelly Partners LLC, which is led by Glenn Donnelly and Carl Myers, CEO of Sweeteners Plus. Donnelly has been planning the new track for the past two years with the intention of creating “an innovative, entertaining, and profitable multi-use facility.”

In addition to Donnelly and Myers, the investor group includes Robert Lutz, Todd Town, Tony Komuda Jr., Peter Mack, Derek Tarolli and Greg Kidd. “Our investors are our biggest assets,” says Donnelly. “They are all highly involved, tremendously talented and very successful business people committed to make CNYRP a financial success.”

Both state and local governments are involved with the project that will create 120 full-time jobs during its initial phase, and Donnelly believes the new track will have no difficulty attracting business. “Both Watkins Glen and Monticello in New York State already have full schedules,” he notes. “From car clubs to national touring series to driving schools, we are confident we will fill the 180 days we have set for operation.”

Among the many other aspects of CNYRP will be an on-site television production studio with the capability to produce promotional and commercial spots for company sponsors and racetrack members, as well as broadcasting live events from the facility.
