Every year brings new anniversaries to celebrate, and it was in 1911 that Henry Ford established a factory in Trafford Park, Manchester, and soon became Britain’s most prolific carmaker.

At first, the UK reflected Detroit with the Model T (approx. 80,000 made) followed by the Model A (14,516 made).  Then in 1931, Ford  established a state of the art factory in Dagenham, East London, and the following year came the Model Y, a small car designed in Detroit for Europe.  This took Britain by storm, and did pretty well in Germany, while Ford always had a more difficult time in France, France being populated by the French. It was even assembled in Australia and Japan.
