Chris Harris’ Deep Dive on the 992.2 Porsche 911 GTS (Video)

the internet's favorite automotive journalist takes a closer look at the new 911 benchmark

The hybridization of the 911 is no longer just a concept. In fact, the manifestation of it has been materially present for a few months now, after making somewhat of silent debut back in July of 2024. Presenting itself first—and for now, exclusively—as the new 2025 Porsche 911 GTS, the company’s latest “T-Hybrid” technology has been on full and accessible display, at least to some automotive journalists. From what I’ve gathered online, the first stateside owners are expecting deliveries any day now.

Your usual suspects in the review space have already given the GTS a quick glance, with the general consensus being that the addition of Porsche’s mild hybrid technology doesn’t take away anything from the 911’s ability to remain very 911-ty. Of course, the most avid of purists will have to contend with the idea of having no manual transmission option, while cross-shoppers will have to wrestle with the significant price bump when comparing its competition.

In any case, the new Porsche 911 GTS is much more than something in and of itself. Porsche has already gone on the record to state that the upcoming Porsche 911 GT2 RS will also be a mild hybrid, so we should be witnessing some trickle down—or in the latter’s case, trickle up—effects over the conclusion of the 992 generation, and more than likely, well beyond it.

Without further ado, here’s Chris Harris via Chris Harris on Cars: Porsche 992 Carrera GTS Hybrid Review. I’ve always been a big fan of Chris’ more candid take on car reviewing, while nevertheless, still setting the gold standard of contemporary automotive journalism. Enjoy!
