Unveiled in April 2010, the Ferrari 599 GTO was the third model to bear the prestigious “Gran Turismo Omologato” name, following the iconic 250 GTO and 288 GTO. This road-legal version of the track-focused 599 XX boasted 670 horsepower thanks to reduced engine friction, a higher compression ratio, and redesigned intake and exhaust systems.
Weighing nearly 100kg less, it accelerated from 0-60 mph in under 3.3 seconds and reached a top speed of over 208mph. With a front-engine layout, it was Ferrari’s fastest road car at the time, outperforming the mid-engined Enzo around Fiorano.
Enhanced features included a quicker-shifting gearbox, improved magnetorheological dampers, advanced traction control, and weight-saving measures like thinner glass, an aluminium boot lid, forged alloy wheels, and carbon fibre seats. Carbon ceramic brakes with carbon pads ensured superior stopping power. Production was limited to 599 units with 125 of them were US-market examples.
Offered for sale by RM Sotheby’s, this 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO, chassis no. 182832, was completed in June 2011 and delivered new to Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale in Florida, where it remained for its first four years.
Presented in pristine condition, the car has only 1,900 miles from new and is finished in two-tone Nero with Rosso Corsa racing livery, featuring the optional central racing stripe and painted mirrors specific to the 599 GTO. The interior includes Nero leather with Daytona-style seats accented by Rosso inserts.
Additional Rosso details include seat belts, stitching, the instrument panel, and the tachometer. Optional features include black-painted 20” Challenge wheels with carbon fiber centers, Rosso brake calipers, carbon door sills, iPod connectivity, privacy rear windows, and a Bose HiFi system.
