Based on the AMG SLS Coupe, the SLS Roadster carries on the legacy of the stunning 300SL Roadster, which followed the iconic 300SL Gullwing Coupe in 1957. Like its predecessor, the SLS Roadster maintains the same powerful performance as the Coupe but adds a touch more flair in the design department.
The SLS Roadster is the last Mercedes-Benz model to feature the AMG-designed M159 naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing 563 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This engine, hand-built and signed by a single engineer, delivers a thrilling 7,200 RPM redline accompanied by a rich, deep exhaust note, paired with the precise shifts of its upgraded 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Design-wise, the SLS AMG Roadster mirrors the Coupe’s bold appearance, featuring the prominent tri-star emblem in the large front grille, distinctive hood and side vents, and a sleek rear with a hidden automated spoiler. In place of the Coupe’s fixed roof, the Roadster sports a power-operated, three-layer soft top that enhances its sleek silhouette without adding weight, thanks to its lightweight frame constructed from steel, aluminum, and magnesium.
