Car Of The Day: 2006 Ford GT Roush 600 RE Heritage

Roush has become closely associated with the Ford GT, and to celebrate the end of its production, they created a highly exclusive series called the 600RE. Based on the Ford GT supercar, this limited edition includes several improvements, notably an engine upgrade that boosts both power and torque.

By installing a smaller belt and pulley on the supercharger, Roush increased the GT’s output to 600 bhp at 6,200 rpm and 550 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm—an improvement of 50 bhp, or a 10% increase over the stock model. Additional upgrades include a freer-flowing Tubi exhaust and an enhanced transmission oil cooler.

Visually, the 600RE features special “600RE” decals on both doors, new door-sill covers, and a commemorative plaque on the center console. Designed and built at the Roush Technical Centre in Brentwood, Essex—the UK’s official Ford GT service center—only 10 units of the 600RE were produced, making it an extremely rare vehicle.
