Lotus has made a dramatic entrance into the world of high-performance electric hypercars with the 2,000-horsepower Lotus Evija. This marks the first entirely new Lotus model to be released under the ownership of Geely, who acquired the company in 2017.
The name “Evija” means “firstborn,” and interestingly, the logo on the number plate reads “alive” when viewed backward. This car is a significant milestone for Lotus, representing the company’s full transition from internal combustion engines to electric power.
With 2,011 horsepower, the Evija is one of the most powerful cars in the world, holding the title of the most powerful production car globally. It delivers astonishing straight-line performance, accelerating from 0 to 300 km/h in just 9.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 360 km/h.
Check out the video below, shared by Goodwood Road & Racing on YouTube, where Simon Lane, Executive Director for Lotus Advanced Performance, discusses what makes the Lotus Evija truly special.
