The Lotus Evija X isa one-off prototype electric vehicle (EV) designed specifically for achieving a record lap time around Nürburgring, also known as the Green Hell, a racetrack notorious for its difficulty.
The Evija X boasts over 2,000 horsepower and 4,500 kg of downforce. While based on the Evija road car, it features significant modifications to handle the extreme demands of the Nürburgring. These include a heavily reworked cooling system, competition tires, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
It managed to be come the third fastest car around Nürburgring, so it should be able to conquer the Goodwood hill climb easily. Unfortunately though, that didn’t happen as the Evija X lost control and crashed immediately right after leaving the starting line.
It’s still no clear what caused the accident which destroyed its front end, but thankfully its driver walked away from the incident with no apparent injuries.
