When it comes to updating a supercar, most manufacturers take a straightforward approach: enhance the existing model with a few upgrades, boost the engine’s power, improve performance slightly, and raise the price tag. But for McLaren, this incremental method doesn’t quite cut it.
Instead, McLaren uses each update as an opportunity to refine and perfect almost every aspect of the vehicle, just like what they did with the McLaren Artura Spider, the open-top version of its hardtop sibling which comes with a plethora of improvements, making it an even more desirable option for drivers seeking a thrilling combination of power, handling, and open-air luxury.
First and foremost, the Artura Spider features a more potent version of the coupe’s 3.0-liter V6 engine, churning out 700 horsepower (an increase of 20 horsepower). This translates to exhilarating acceleration, propelling the car from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 3 seconds.
But is the McLaren Artura Spider the ultimate entry-level supercar? Rory Reid from AutoTrader takes it for a drive to learn if it lives up to the hype, along with its potential drawbacks.
