The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was designed and engineered to be a “precision tool” for the race track. While the DNA of every modern Corvette evolved from its racing car heritage, the new Z06 has blurred the lines between street car and race car to such an extent that it is hard to decide which environment this car is best suited for.
To further highlight the impressive capabilities of the new Z06, Hennessey Performance posted a video on their YouTube channel showcasing a remarkable lap time around the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX. The C8 Z06 achieved an outstanding lap time of 2 minutes and 19.18 seconds, with Hennessey Venom F5 test driver David Donohue behind the wheel.
The vehicle used for this run was John Hennessey’s personal C8 Corvette Z06. It remained entirely in its factory configuration and included the Z07 package, incorporating track-oriented enhancements such as a carbon aero package and lightweight carbon fiber wheels.
What’s even more impressive is the fact that the car was able to set this lap time despite the poor condition of the track during the run which could’ve allowed for a faster time.
