The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix serves as the finale of the 2023 Formula One World Championship season, and as part of the event, Bonhams will host an auction featuring cars that are worth millions of dollars. Among the vehicles offered by Bonhams is a McLaren Elva currently owned by Fernando Alonso.
The McLaren Elva is a limited-production model paying homage to McLaren’s legendary 1964-65 heritage. This particular Elva, number 114 of 149, is equipped with an impressive 815 bhp four-liter V8 biturbo engine, weighing in at 1,148 kilograms. Its top speed reaches 327 km/h, facilitated by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling swift gear shifts. The Elva is rear-wheel drive, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.7 seconds.
Customized by McLaren Special Operations, the car features a unique combination of matte gray paint and orange details on the carbon bodywork. The interior continues the theme with a blend of black and orange, creating the ambiance of a true racing car. Notably, Fernando Alonso’s signature is engraved on the headrests of the seats.
Aside from being a limited-edition MSO-specced hypercar without a windshield, Alonso’s Elva is notable for having a very low mileage, as indicated by Bonhams Cars. With only 4 kilometers on the odometer, this Elva has been stored in the garage of the former Ferrari driver, making it one of the most prestigious examples of its kind. The two-time World champion aims to sell the hypercar for up to $3 million.
