Tam’s Old Race Car Site

Several years ago we brought you this fantastic site devoted to photographs of ’50s and ’60s sports car racing, predominantly on the West Coast. Because of the open format where the owner encourages people to contribute old photographs and commentary, this Web site has now become an even better resource for the history of rare sports cars.

In addition to photos of the big names like Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, Ken Miles and the like, the site also features photos of drivers like Harry Heuer, Max Balchowsky, Bill Krause and many lesser-known drivers. Of particular interest this month is this site’s broad selection of photographs of rare American Specials like the Pink Elephant, the FUBAR, Twareg Special and many others.

Other features include a series of period movies that can be viewed in QuickTime, as well as several sections devoted to people’s postings of “Mystery Cars” that they are seeking identification or more information on. This site is a lot of fun to peruse and a fabulous resource to the hobby.
