The 2024 Kimera EVO37 is a restomod vehicle that takes its inspiration from the legendary Lancia 037 rally car. Designed and built by Kimera Automobili in Italy, each Kimera EVO37 is a bespoke creation tailored to its owner’s preferences. The transformation process begins with an original donor car from the past, which is then updated using the latest technology and engineering from the automotive industry.
The Kimera EVO37 is equipped with a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine that features both turbocharging and supercharging, delivering an impressive output of over 500 horsepower and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Notably, this engine was developed with the help of Claudio Lombardi, the engineer responsible for crafting the engines used in the original Lancia 037 rally cars. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Furthermore, all of the car’s body panels are constructed from carbon fiber, a departure from the original 037 which used fiberglass panels.
With only 37 examples expected to be made and a very high price tag does this Lancia 037 restomod truly live up to the iconic Group B rally car of the early 1980s? Thomas and James from Throttle House are to here to find out for us!
