In 2021, Mercedes-AMG elevated the GT’s performance to new heights with the introduction of the Black Series variant. These models, known for their exceptional driving dynamics, benefited from the brand’s extensive motorsport expertise, featuring the formidable M178 LS2 twin-turbo V-8 engine, purpose-built for the GT Black Series. This powerhouse churns out an astonishing 730 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.
Following the AMG GT Black Series, Mercedes introduced one of the era’s most eagerly anticipated cars, the $2.72 million F1-inspired AMG One hypercar. While adapting an F1 engine for road use proved challenging, the AMG One’s production was delayed several times. To keep their customers satisfied, the company introduced a special edition of the GT Black Series known as the “P One Edition.”
The Black Series P One Edition commanded a $57,300 premium over the AMG GT Black Series and was exclusively available to customers who placed deposits on the upcoming Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar. These cars feature a hand-painted three-pointed star motif from the A-pillars back, along with teal interior and exterior accents, inspired by the Petronas livery on the Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance race car.
