Collecting Cars is offering you a chance to acquire a beautiful and low mileage example of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition considered by some as the ‘gentleman’s supercar’.
This 2007 SLR McLaren 722 Edition is one of 150 produced in that year, all of which are in left hand drive. The 722 Edition refers to the start time (7:22 AM) that Stirling Moss and his co-driver Denis Jenkinson left to win the Mille Miglia in 1955. The pair were able to complete a 1000-mile loop through Italy in a record-setting 10 hours, 7 minutes, and 48 seconds- an average speed of almost 98 mph.
The 722 came with a supercharged 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 putting out 641 horsepower and 605 pounds of torque. While the standard SLR came with only 617hp, the 722 Edition is much more than a few fancy badges fixed to the bodywork.
The special edition model boasts numerous improvements compared to the standard vehicle, including a modified engine, a carbon-fibre front splitter and rear diffuser, 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels, upgraded suspension featuring lighter Koni dampers, a lowered ride height of 10mm, revised aerodynamics, black tinted headlights and tail lights, and carbon-ceramic brake discs.
This particular model comes in the elegant Crystal Antimony Grey color, paired with a black leather and Alcantara-trimmed interior. The interior features carbon-fibre bucket seats with red contrast stitching and embossed ‘722’ lettering on the seat backs, red seat belts, unique ‘722 Edition’ badge on the centre console, as well as carbon-fibre and silver trim accents.
Equipped with a proper set of 19-inch twin six-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, finished in glossy gunmetal with polished lips, the car is adorned with red brake calipers with carbon-ceramic discs, and fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres.
The factory specifications of this vehicle include headlamp washers, xenon headlights, a multifunctional steering wheel, a reversing camera, push-button start, electrically adjustable door mirrors, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, switchable driving modes, a Bose sound system, and electrically adjustable seats.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition is an exciting and stunningly designed modern supercar, available in a limited-edition run with an impressively low mileage from its initial production. With only 150 units produced globally, this particular vehicle is presented in excellent condition and features several desirable factory upgrades. It would make a unique addition to any car collection and a thrilling weekend toy or touring companion after undergoing routine servicing.
