Hoonigan is back with another episode from their This vs That series and this time we get to an epic drag race between an all stock, almost new McLaren 620R and a Hellcat-swapped 1st-gen Dodge Viper. But before we proceed with the race let’s have a quick look at the two competitors.
The McLaren 620R is basically a road legal version of the 570S GT4 race car. The vehicle features M838TE 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is in the GT4 racing car. That engine makes a monstrous 612 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. That power will propel the car from a standstill to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. The vehicle can do 124 mph in just 8.1 seconds. It tops out at 200 mph.
On the other lane is a 1st-gen Dodge Viper that’s been equipped with a Hellcat Redeye motor mated to a Tremec T56 transmission and has been rated to produce 850 horsepower.
It should be interesting to see how a 1st-gen Dodge Viper with a 2022 Hellcat engine stack up against the track-ready bone stock McLaren 620R.
