Back in the early 2000’s I was able to be a press photographer during endurance GT1 racing in Europe, and one of the more impressive supercars on the track was the Maserati MC12 Versione Corse in various liveries, apparently, just 14 of these track-only cars were ever built, and it was extremely intimidating, taking multiple victories on some of the famous circuits at the time. The Maserati MC12 was unveiled in 2004, borrowing the chassis from another Italian masterpiece, the Ferrari Enzo, but unlike the 350 units of the Enzo, with 50 additional units built to satisfy the high demand for the $600,000 car, the MC12 was intended to be made just 25 times initially, just to satisfy homologation of the race cars.
By 2005 Maserati decided to add 25 more units to the production line, and while you could specify just about any color, many of the Maserati MC12 Stradale were finished in an absolutely stunning Mother-of-Pearl white with traditional blue livery at the bottom of the body and on the massive rear wing, but get this, Maserati made the MC12 even more expensive than the Ferrari Enzo she was based on with an MSRP of $810,000, keep in mind the Corsa version would set you back a staggering $1,200,000 in 2004, today both the Enzo and the MC12 are about the same value, between $3,500,000 and $4,000,000.
