1960 Jaguar E2A Gallery
The 1960 Jaguar E2A was the Jaguar prototype that fit between the D-type and E-type models.
It was unique because it was the first time Jaguar had added fully independent suspension. Jaguar officially withdrew from racing in 1956, but privateers continued to race Jags. Sportsman and Jag distributor Briggs Cunningham persuaded him to race this prototype in the 1960 Le Mans race.
Dan Gurney and Walt Hansgen drove the car, but a fuel injection pipe failed, causing a lean mixture to burn a piston and head gasket. Modifications were made, including lowering the windshield, after which it met with racing success in the U.S.
