Goodwood Festival of Speed (2014) – Picture Gallery

The 2014 edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, held on June 26-29, was the largest and most successful in the event’s history, attracting 200,000 enthusiastic visitors to Goodwood House and the 1.16-mile Goodwood hill climb in West Sussex, England.

With superstar names from the world of motorsport, including John Surtees, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastien Loeb, Didier Auriol, Richard Petty, Mark Webber, Giacomo Agostini, Wayne Gardner and Freddie Spencer, guests were treated to non-stop entertainment throughout the 21st annual Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak of nine-time World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb won the “Sunday Shoot Out” at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking the top spot with a time of 44.60 seconds. Loeb’s time was the sixth-fastest time ever on Goodwood’s iconic 9-turn hill climb. It is the second year in a row in which the Peugeot Pikes Peak set the fastest time at Goodwood, as Gregory Guilvert tied for the top spot in 2013 with Nick Heidfeld’s Lola B12/60 in 45.86 seconds.

Loeb’s nearest challenger was former GT1 World Champion and ex-grand prix driver Michael Bartels, whose Maserati MC12 ‘Goodwood Cent 100’ missed out on the spoils by 1.22 seconds. Two more GT monsters, a McLaren F1 GTR Longtail driven by Indy 500 winner and former IndyCar champion Kenny Brack, and a Nissan GTR-NISMO GT3 piloted by Jann Mardenborough – Saturday’s Michelin Supercar Run winner – were next up while the best Formula 1 car was Didier Sirgue’s ex-Andrea de Cesaris Jordan-Ford 191.

Similar to our first Photo Gallery and the Cartier Style et Luxe Concours Gallery, Senior Photographer Tim Scott also provided the following wonderful images from the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. We split up Tim’s pictures into two galleries. The first gallery starting below features our favorite images, all displayed in the full-width view of Sports Car Digest, while the second gallery and event results can be found on the last page of the article and gives a comprehensive view of all the photographs.
