Following up from our news post a few days ago where an SCG 004C was seen running around Monza, the American company has started accepting orders for the road-going version.
Officially known as the 004 Stradale, with an option for a Competizione Stradale (004CS road-legal track car), production is expected to start in late 2020 for an early 2021 delivery date.
The competition version is set to make a debut at the rescheduled Nurburgring 24 Hours race in September, much like the 007C Hypercar at Le Mans that same month in the new Hypercar Prototype class.
The 004S will be made almost entirely of carbon fiber and honeycomb aluminum, giving it an excellent dry curb weight of 1,179 kg (2,599 lbs).
Power comes from the same 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is in the middle of the race car. In the roadgoing version, it will produce 674 BHP, all sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed gated manual from Graziano Trasmissioni in Turin, Italy.
While performance figures are not yet specified, it is sure to be quite a ride, with 571.6 BHP per ton. That puts it on almost even footing with a car it borrows its cabin layout from, the McLaren F1.
The central seating position, unlike the F1, doesn’t tuck the side seats in and back, instead bringing the passenger seats nearly up in line with the driver’s seat. As well, the car holds true to the F1 inspired design with all instruments being analogue dials.
The 004S has a listing price of $457,000, which is a quarter of what it’s older brother, the 003S, asked for at $2 million. The hope from SCG is that the lower entry price will tempt some away from cars from places such as Sant’Agata Bolognese, Maranello, or Woking, for example…
