McLaren 600LT Spider Video Review
The McLaren 600LT is one of those McLaren models that oozes awesomeness. It is a future McLaren Icon for sure and there was no surprise at all when it made our list of the best McLaren cars of all time. The question is whether the Spider version is just as good as its sibling coupe.
With all the current McLaren news being about lawsuits and creditor claims, we worry about McLaren’s future as a standalone maker of supercars so today we wanted to share something more upbeat. In this video Henry Catchpole from Carfection drives and reviews the ferocious 600LT Spider on the track and public roads. It is a great video and as always Henry does an amazing job on conveying what it is like to be in the drivers seat.
Like the 600LT Coupe, a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 with 592 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque shoots the LT Spider to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Getting to 124 mph takes just an extra two-tenths of a second compared to the hardtop. You step on the throttle, wait for a tinge of turbo lag, then boom, the ferocious revving and blistering straight-line speed hits you. Rinse and repeat. Unlike most convertibles, this Spider will also handle in the corners. It is easily my favorite car on the market today. No shortfall versus the coupe. An epic car.
We already know the 600LT Spider great option for buyers looking at the current McLaren lineup, but the real question is whether the Spider is as good as the coupe. Lets watch and find out.
